COURSE OVERVIEW
The MCA programme is intended to provide a modern industry-orientd education in applied computer science, thereby focusing on providing a sound theoretical background as well as good practical exposure to students in the relevant areas. The MCA Department was established in the year 2003 with an approved intake of 60 students which has recently increased to 120 with an excellent library and laboratory facilities. At, present, it has 12 qualified and dedicated teaching staff ( 06 Ph.D holders and 05 pursuing Ph.D) and 2 technical and one office staff members creating an amicable teaching and learning environment. The faculty members of the dept. have executed their responsibilities as coordinators/ members of the BOS/BOE under VTU, other universities and autonomous institutions as well as editorial board members / reviewers of international journals/conferences.
The Department has obtained 13 ranks at VTU level since inception. The faculty members are involved in different research domains such as Data Science, Network Security, Cloud Computing and Data Mining. Disciplined environment, conducive to Teaching-Learning, with rigorous academic monitoring is maintained. The faculty members served as consultants for corporate companies like L&T India in the areas of Data Science and IoT. There are many best practices that are followed in the Department including Project Based Learning, Partial Delivery of courses, Value Added Courses etc., to facilitate a better Teaching-Learning environment.
Placement training is offered by corporate trainers in every semester to ensure better employability and more opportunities for the aspirants. The department has organized series of expert talks, workshops, industrial visits, Alumni Interaction and regular department fests under the name Technix to work towards the holistic development of the students.

Driving Innovation Through Research and Real-World Impact.
The department of MCA is recognised as research centre from the year 2017. The faculty members are working in different domains such as data science, data mining, cloud computing, computer networks, cyber security, cognitive radio network, wireless sensor network. The faculty have published their research work in the reputed journals, also received patent for the few research work.
The department also encourages the students to present their work in international conferences and to publish their project work.
